This workshop will promote empowerment, health, and well-being for Two-Spirit, Native GLBTQI, and the rest of the Native community through exploration of tradition and concepts of identity as Two-Spirit and Native people. The workshop will run from noon to 5 pm and will be followed by a potluck and social from 6:30 pm to 9 pm. Alistair Bane (Eastern Shawnee) will facilitate and special guest speaker, Dr. George Tinker (Osage), author of "Theology of American Indian Liberation" will discuss Two-Spirit tradition in the Osage Nation. The National Native CBA Network is collaborating with Denver Indian Health and Family Services to provide HIV/AIDS information and NNHAAD products and incentives at the Denver March Powwow in an effort to spread awareness at this well attended event. The Wellness Committee from Denver Juvinile Probation/Treatment Alternatives for Safer Communities (TASC) will be passing out NNHAAD lapel pins and buttons. In addition, employees will be given a fact/sheet about HIV/AIDS and a list of other NNHAAD community events for them and their families to attend in an effort to spread the word about HIV/AIDS in the Native community and beyond.
