Student NNHAAD HIV/AIDS Education & Testing
H.O.P.E. Testing Clinic of Tulsa will present an HIV/AIDS education lesson to 70 Riverside Indian School students and offer rapid HIV testing. 3rd Annual NNHAAD Health Fair & Powwow
A powwow dance competetion will be held to celebrate NNHAAD. In addition, there will be a health fair with guest speakers, food, prizes and local presenters providing educational information on HIV/AIDS. This event was sponsored by Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes, Oklahoma Native American AIDS Coalition, Association of American Indian Physicians, Indian Health Service, and Indian Community Health Representative. Cherokee Recognition of NNHAAD
The Cherokee Nation will present two programs on the AIDS pandemic, an information table with free brochures and "personal protection" and also offer free confidential rapid HIV testing. Barbara Williams a.k.a. "The Sex Lady", Certified Prevention Specialist and President of the Green Country AIDS Coalition, will be the one of the speakers and will also be doing the testing. CAPT Ellen Simmons from Claremore IHS and Shana Cozad, a Native living with HIV, will also be speaking. The community is invited to attend and the local media has been informed.
