'Doing It?' DVD

The Doing It? DVD was created by the Nez Perce Tribe’s Students for Success (SFS) group in collaboration with NNAAPC. The film is based on abstinence education concepts and tells the story of three Native American teenagers who are inspired to interview people on their reservation to see if "everyone is doing it". The message they get from TV and movies is that everyone is having sex and the teenagers want to discover if this is the truth.
During their 'documentary,' they begin to see that people's attitudes and actions are influenced by peer pressure, music, media, and alcohol/drugs and they learn more about how STDs and HIV affect teenagers and their choices. Along the way, they also meet people, including Kimberly and Emcee One, who are committed to abstinence and share their reasons for making this decision. The film wraps up with the young people talking about the lessons they learned from their investigation. By the end, the "it" in Doing It? becomes "Doing the abstinence-thing."
This DVD is available to order through NNAAPC Clearinghouse and was developed using funds provided by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention Division of Adolescent School and Health (CDC DASH).
