Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium                                                        
Program: HIV/AIDS Prevention Program

Description of Program: The Program focuses on HIV prevention education and outreach services in the Anchorage area, provider trainings, HIV+ speakers, and rural community consultations regarding HIV prevention. Staff provide capacity building assistance for Native-serving HIV prevention efforts and specialized prevention media development services. Their outreach programs include: a Community PROMISE (Peers Reaching Out and Modeling Intervention Strategies) intervention focused on Alaska Native women and an Mpowerment intervention focused on Alaska Native men who have sex with men (MSM) to reduce the impact of HIV and STDs and to increase access to testing and care.
