Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board, Inc.                                            
Program: HIV/AIDS Prevention Program

Description of Program: The Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board, Inc. (AAIHB) program mission is to go out and prevent one more individual from becoming HIV affected. Seven tribes (Alamo Navajo, Canoncito Navajo, Jicarilla Apache, Mescalero Apache, Ramah Navaho To'Hajilee and two Ute tribes of southern Colorado) are serviced by this program. The program provides mobile HIV counseling and testing which is conducted at reservations. HIV training is rendered for service providers. The Program staff provide HIV/AIDS education at health fairs, educational booths, and outreach to the community. They distribute safer sex materials and provide HIV culturally relevant education sessions. Additional services include HIV action planning in the community, locating People living With AIDS (PWAs), identifying resources, networking and locating materials.

Program: HIV/HMA Prevention and Case Management

Description of Program: The Program services offered are HIV/AIDS and STD counseling and testing and case management services. Clients living with HIV/AIDS or having a reactive test can utilize the services available at the clinic.

Gallup Indian Medical Center                                                                        
Program: Navajo Area Indian Health Service Program, HIV Clinic

Description of Program: The HIV Clinic has a pharmacy adherence clinic and program. The Clinic will soon have an HIV nurse to do specific HIV case management. The HIV Clinic and all HIV programs collaborate with the Navajo Nation. The program works closely with the Navajo AIDS Network and assists with non-medical case management.

Navajo AIDS Network, Inc.                                                               
Program: Navajo AIDS Network, Inc.

Description of Program:  Navajo AIDS Network (NAN) provides culturally appropriate HIV prevention services focusing on preventing new HIV infections through health education and risk reduction activities. Specific attention is directed toward HIV infected persons and linking clients to counseling, testing and partner counseling. NAN provides MSM programs which increase empowerment and self-esteem by addressing cultural, social, and traditional beliefs. The Hozho Benashadoo offers HIV prevention education services specific to Navajo women by Navajo women. HIV direct care services include case management program for American Indians living on or near the Navajo Nation and HIV testing and counseling services. NAN conducts street outreach and group level interventions, as well as community level interventions.
